Starting October 6, 2025
Unincorporated Manatee County residents will experience a major shift in waste collection through the Big Bin Advantage program. As your trusted realtor in Manatee and Sarasota counties, I want to ensure you're prepared for this change that affects every household.
What's Changing?
Starting October 6, garbage, recycling, and yard waste will all be collected on the same day each week. The program replaces small garbage cans with a free, 96-gallon rolling bin and uses trucks with an automated arm for pickup.
Key Changes:
- Big Bins will start arriving in mid-August and continue through October
- Three separate trucks will pick up each type of waste—just make sure your bins are placed at least three feet apart
- Weekly garbage pickup is limited to the contents of your bin, with the lid closed
- You can keep your old bin for yard waste or other uses
Why This Matters for Homeowners
This keeps workers safer, reduces road damage, and makes pickup more reliable. The new collection routes are designed to improve efficiency and keep pace with our growing community.
